Today I made some cream-of-something soup with the white sauce mix that I talked about a couple of days ago. I thought I needed it thick in order to imitate the can of condensed soup, but realized that I didn't need it that thick for my tuna-noodle casserole that I had for lunch. So I ended up using only half of it. Talena had a great suggestion for the other half: chicken pot pie for dinner. Yay! So that's what we're having for dinner tonight.
I cooked half a bag of frozen carrots along with a cup of mixed vegetables, with a teaspoon of chicken bouillon in the cooking water, then stirred in half a can of green beans (also left over from my lunch), a can of pork that I rinsed and drained (I meant to get a can of chicken, but I guess it was pork) and the leftover thick creamy stuff. Poured it into a pie crust, but a top on it, and now it's baking.

Did I miss the post about the cream of something soup? I was recently cleaning out my pantry and found that I had made a dry cream of something soup mix that I had forgotten about. Luckily I taped the instructions onto the top. Anyway, I think I found the recipe in some food storage book and it looks like it has powdered milk, instant rice, and some other seasonings. I'm glad I found it, now I'll have to start using it! Does that sound like the same recipe you used?
Hey Josie, the post where I mentioned the cream of something soup was actually the post about the scalloped potato casserole made from the dehydrated potatoes. I'll put a link into my post, above. And, no, it doesn't sound like the same recipe as you used, because mine doesn't call for instant rice. It calls for powdered milk, flour, and butter powder, along with a little bit of chicken bouillon granules and salt for flavor. In that previous post, I also linked to a web site with someone else's version of a white sauce recipe, and it calls for powdered milk, flour, and margarine cut into it. Makes sense to me.
Looks yummy! We ended having chicken and dumplings cause I didn't want to roll out the pie crust. I wish I had made a little bit more dumplings...
